The crisis did not stand in the way of manufacturers of prefabricated houses from Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH), who during the past nine months sold these products abroad worth 104.92 million BAM, which is almost 11 million more compared to the same period last year.
According to the data of the Indirect Taxation Administration (ITA) of BiH, the German, Croatian and Austrian markets were the most popular for manufacturers of prefabricated houses this year. In the same period last year, prefabricated houses worth 93.74 million BAM were exported.
Unline exports, ITA data show that prefabricated houses worth 6.25 million BAM arrived in BiH from abroad this year, while the residents here allocated 5.46 million BAM for them the year before.
The owner of the company “Steko centar” in Bijeljina, Milenko Stevanovic, told that they have a lot of work and that they recently entered the Australian market, where in the coming period they expect more traffic than they will have in the entire European Union (EU) this year.
”Due to the large volume of work, we recently hired new workers. We export our product to 20 countries, and currently we have the most work in Switzerland. Residents of Germanyhave some kind of fear, nobody buys anything anymore, neither houses nor furniture, the demand there has dropped by 50 percent,” told Stevanovic, whose workers abroad completed 37,000 square meters or about 300 houses last year.
According to ITA data, BiH exported prefabricated houses worth 130.8 million BAM abroad last year, mostly to Germany. When it comes to imports, houses worth 8.23 million BAM arrived in BiH from abroad last year, mainly from Turkey and Italy, Biznis Info reports.
