Presentation “Systems for Reports on Incidents” Supported by the GIS Technology Held in Sarajevo

odrzana-prezentacija-sistema-za-izvjestavanje-o-incidentima-podrzanog-gis-tehnologijom_1411070219The presentation entitled “Systems for Reports on Incidents” supported by the GIS technology was held today by experts from Romania and Slovenia in the headquarters of the Directorate for coordination of police bodies of B&H.

By presenting the usefulness of the GIS systems in the police practice, the possibilities of displaying criminality in its integrity or its particular types in time and space, displaying criminal focal points, the circulation of the criminal trends, displaying and analysing series of felonies (based on the same or similar characteristics) etc were pointed out.

The system enables collecting, sorting out, analysing and visual displaying of data coming from different sources and as well as it gives opportunity of a rich combining while choosing and selecting data.

The displaying of the criminality is not based on a punitive-juridical qualification but on criminological and detective characteristics. The visual displaying facilitates the analysis and planning of the prevention police measures as well as it enables a much easier coordination of different police forces and making the detective and strategic but also operative prognosis.

The executive heads of the Directorate and the commissar of the Canton of Sarajevo Vahid Ćosić attended the presentation. On this occasion, they also discussed the implementation of the pilot project at the territory of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Canton of Sarajevo which should start to be implemented in the second half of November 2014.

Commissar Čosić supported this pilot project and pointed out that it would be of great use to the Directorate for coordination of police bodies of B&H and to the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Canton of Sarajevo.
