President Izetbegović Condemned the Imposition of the Death Sentence to the Former Egyptian President Morsi

Bakir Supporting Morsi novovrijeme.baThe member of the Presidency of Bosnia and Herzegovina Bakir Izetbegović strongly condemned the decision of the Egyptian Court which sentenced the former President of Egypt Mohamed Morsi and other prominent leaders and members of the Muslim Brotherhood to death.

“In the first free and democratic elections in Egypt, Dr. Mohamed Morsi was legally elected as the president of Egypt by the will of the citizens. He was deposed with a military coup, and then was arrested and subjected to a politically rigged trial, whose aim was the brutal confrontation with political rivals and opponents, and ultimately their physical elimination. It is the roughest human rights violation and continuing demonstration of superiority of force over the rule of law, dictatorship over democracy, and oppression over justice. I call on the international community to demonstrate its consistency when it comes to the respect for human rights and democratic norms and to do everything in its power to prevent the imposed death penalty from being carried out, and to ensure an equitable and fair trial for Dr. Morsi”, said the member of the Presidency of Bosnia and Herzegovina Bakir Izetbegović.
