Polish President Andrzej Duda will swear in Donald Tusk’s cabinet on December 13, Head of the Presidential Office Grazyna Ignaczak-Bandych announced.

“A meeting with Prime Minister Donald Tusk took place under invitation from President Andrzej Duda after the voting in the Sejm. It was decided that, following the vote of confidence, the new cabinet will swear in on Wednesday, December 13, at 9 a.m. [11 a.m. Moscow time], in the Presidential palace,” she said on her X page, TASS writes.

The Polish parliament voted Donald Tusk as the new prime minister today, ending eight years of rule by the nationalist Law and Justice party.

Tusk received the votes of 248 deputies, while 201 were against.

Tens of billions of euros in EU funds meant for Poland have been frozen due to a dispute with Brussels over democratic standards, but Tusk, a former European Council president, has promised to mend relations and unblock the money.

“I am grateful to all those who believed in this new, wonderful Poland, to all those who believed in us and decided to make this historic change,” Tusk said in an address to MPs after the vote.

Previously, the assembly voted no confidence in Prime Minister Mateus Moravjecki from the Pravo i Pravda party.

His party came first in the elections held on October 15 and got the first chance to form the Government, but it lacked the necessary majority and all other parties ruled out cooperation with it, Srna reports.
