Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s office has rejected the decision of the International Criminal Court (ICC) to issue arrest warrants for him and former Defense Minister Yoav Galant, describing it as anti-Semitic.
“Israel rejects with disgust the ICC’s absurd and fraudulent actions,” his office said in a statement.
The statement added that Israel will not “give in to pressure in defense of its citizens.”
The ICC has issued arrest warrants for Netanyahu, Galant and Hamas leader Ibrahim al-Masri, for war crimes in Gaza.
The ICC statement said the charges of war crimes and crimes against humanity relate to the period from October 7 last year to May 20, RIA Novosti reported.
The court rejected Israel’s arguments that the ICC lacked jurisdiction over the arrest warrants for Netanyahu and Galant.
