Prices of Personal Documents in BiH to remain the same

Reduced Prices of ID Cards and Driving Licences soonCitizens of BiH are paying the most expensive ID cards and other personal documents in the region and current prices will be valid until the end of September this year, confirmed the Council of Ministers of BiH.

According to the Agency for Identification Documents, Registers and Data Exchange of Bosnia and Herzegovina (IDDEEA), it was suggested that the Regulations on the price of personal documents is extended until the end of 2016, because the current Regulations expire on June 30.

However, at the last session, upon the proposal by the Ministry of Civil Affairs the Council of Ministers of BiH adopted a conclusion on the amendments to the Regulations on the price of personal documents. With these amendments, current prices of personal documents and the existing Regulations will be valid until September 30, 2016.

In the meantime, the Ministry of Civil Affairs formed a Task Force with the aim of conducting analysis of the disputed multimillion contract that the IDDEEA signed with the company “Muhlbauer”, the company that printed documents for the citizens of BiH. Based on the findings of the analysis, the Task Force will demand from the Council of Ministers to make a revision or to terminate the contract with the company “Muhlbauer”.

The contract with the mentioned company is worth 104 million BAM and, due to the accusation that certain illegalities were registered in the making of that contract, the Prosecutor’s Office of BiH launched an investigation about that and recently issued an arrest warrant for the former director of IDDEEA Siniša Macan for abuse of office.

The price of ID card for the citizens of BiH amounts to 18 BAM and the price of driving license is 60 BAM. The price of travel documents depends on the age of the holder of the documents and amounts to 50 BAM for adults and 40 BAM or 30 BAM for minors.

In the next period, more meetings of the Task Force and the Council of Ministers are expected, in order to define the new Regulations on the prices of personal documents which would, as the citizens expect, be more favorable in terms of prices of documents.
