The Prime Minister of the Canton Sarajevo (CS) Edin Forto (Our Party – Nasa Stranka NS) again promised that the capital city will get a modern cycling infrastructure, after a meeting with the delegation of the World Bank (WB).
Forto previously emphasized on several occasions that the cantonal government will work on the development of this infrastructure, which is necessary for the use of bicycles as a means of transportation in the urban environment. He emphasized yesterday that bicycle infrastructure will be one of the ways to reduce air pollution in Sarajevo.
“We are developing a project with the WB with a focus on clean air and bicycle infrastructure. We will offer an alternative for heating, heat pumps, better furnaces. We will build a modern bicycle infrastructure, not only for recreation, but as a form of daily transportation for our citizens,” pointed out Prime Minister of CS.
The cantonal Ministry of Transport and the Giro di Sarajevo association, with the help of Sweden, recently conducted an online survey through the air quality improvement project IMPAQ, which aims to obtain the data needed for the development of this infrastructure. More than 1.800 citizens responded to the survey.
According to Giro di Sarajevo, the capital city has 20 kilometers of bicycle paths that are not connected to a single network, Klix.ba writes.
