Producers in BiH face numerous Problems

By destabilizing the market and production facilities after the Russian aggression against Ukraine, processors in Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH) will have a difficult and uncertain season. The food industry is in bad situation because there is a lack of packaging in factories. Companies dealing with processing and canning of fruits and vegetables say that because of this problem they cannot contract quantities for purchase.

Producers have a difficult and uncertain season ahead. At this time of the year, gardeners should already have a vegetable sowing plan for the upcoming season. But organized production is called into question – packaging dictates the quantities and prices of finished products this year.

”Depending on the procurement of packaging and the quantity we manage to provide, we will position ourselves according to this year’s total production,” stated Stevo Filipovic, director of PI Sava Semberija.

”In one jar of the product, the participation, specifically, of paprika itself dropped below 30%, which was not the case before. The problem is not only with glass, but with packaging in general, and we will try through our consulates and representative offices to see how we can help our large producers,” pointed out Savo Minic, Minister of Agriculture, Forestry and Water Management of the Republika Srpska (RS) – SNSD.

”Fuel and raw materials are very expensive, many manufacturers have given up. It is also questionable what the price will be and what the quantity will be,” noted agricultural producer Maden Lazic.

Given that the wages and purchasing power of citizens do not follow the increase in prices, producers are worried that imported, cheap goods will only now prevail on the domestic market.
