Today, the High Judicial and Prosecutorial Council suspended the President of the Court of BiH, Ranko Debevec. Yesterday, the Office of the Disciplinary Prosecutor (UDT) of the HJPC submitted a request for the temporary removal of the President of the Court of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Ranko Debevac.
“On the occasion of the arrest of the President of the Court of Bosnia and Herzegovina Ranko Debevac at the premises of the State Agency for Investigation and Protection of Bosnia and Herzegovina (SIPA), we would like to inform the public that the Prosecutor’s Office of Bosnia and Herzegovina in the morning hours of 12/19/2023. year, sent the High Judicial and Prosecutorial Council of Bosnia and Herzegovina (HJPC BiH) a Notice in which it was informed about the adoption of the Order on conducting an investigation against the suspect Ranko Debevac, President of the Court of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
Immediately after the receipt of the said Notification, in accordance with the competences prescribed by the Law on the HJPC of BiH, it was forwarded to the Office of the Disciplinary Prosecutor (UDT) of the HJPC of BiH, which filed a request for the temporary removal from the duties of the President of the Court of BiH, Ranko Debevac. After submitting the request, the automatic DK CMS system will determine the first-instance disciplinary commission of the HJPC of BiH, which will, within the legal deadline, make a decision on the request of the UDT.
Based on the decision of the first-instance disciplinary commission, the HJPC of BiH acted in accordance with the provisions prescribed by the Law on the HJPC of BiH. In the case when the decision of the first-instance disciplinary commission is to remove the president of the court from the duties of the court, the HJPC of BiH decides on the appointment of the acting president of the Court of BiH,” the HJPC announced.
