All 16 police officers of the Kakanj Police Station who were arrested yesterday in the operation codenamed “Target 2” will today, along with the reports on the crime committed, be handed over to the Prosecutor’s Office of the Zenica-Doboj Canton for further proceedings, while the search is still on for Mustafa Karamuja, who it is considered that he was the organizer of the group – said the spokesperson of the Police Administration of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the ZDC, Elvedin Fišek.

The police officers, together with three other persons who are not police officers, were arrested on suspicion of having committed the criminal offenses of “association for the purpose of committing criminal offenses” in connection with the criminal offenses of “abuse of official position or authority” and the criminal offenses of “taking a gift and other forms of benefit”, “divulging an official secret”, “unauthorized production and distribution of narcotic drugs” and “serious theft”.

During the arrest, the premises of Police Station Kakanj, as well as their apartments, houses and cars, were searched.

“The Prosecutor’s Office of the ZDC has already decided and will proceed with the proposal to order detention for all the arrested police officers, who will be taken to the Municipal Court in Kakanj. As for the three arrested who are not police officers, one of them is in the hospital because he has certain health problems, while the other two have been questioned and will not be detained. The fugitive who is still being searched for is important to us, and who, in a way, was the organizer of everything,” says Fišek for Fena.

All the police officers who were arrested yesterday in this action of the Police Administration of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the ZDC have already received decisions on suspension, i.e. removal from work, to which they will not be able to return until the end of the proceedings.

”We have already replaced the missing police officers in Kakanj by redistributing them from other stations, so there is no problem with the functioning of that station,” says Fišek.

Yesterday’s action and searches were carried out according to the orders of the municipal courts in Zenica and Kakanj, and the police teams worked in cooperation and under the supervision of the ZDC Cantonal Prosecutor’s Office and in coordination with the police officers of the State Investigation and Protection Agency (SIPA).
