Protest of miners held in front of FBiH Government Building

Miners of seven mines in FBiH operating within the Elektroprivreda BiH concern gathered today in front of the FBiH Government building in Sarajevo to express dissatisfaction with the proposed Regulation on Salaries and Regulation on Performance.

The Independent Trade Union of Mine Workers of FBiH previously stated that according to that regulation, the amount of the basic salary of diggers in the pit was reduced from the current 850 BAM to 570 BAM.

The president of the union, Sinan Husić, pointed out that they would not agree to that and that they would stay until their demands were met. Miners lit torches during the protests and displayed several banners.

Husić stated that the main demands of the miners are the repeal of the disputed regulations, the dismissal of the general director of Elektroprivreda BiH and the director of the coal mine within that company, and the determination of the minimum salary of 1,000 KM in mining in FBiH.

Production was suspended this morning in all mines.

The delegation of the Trade Union rejected the invitation of the line minister Nermin Džindić to enter the Government building for negotiations and they invited him to appear before the miners.
