A group of pensioners gathered again in Tuzla yesterday, and during the protest, they expressed dissatisfaction with the social status in Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH). They said that the criminal government made victims out of them, bringing them to the brink of ruin.
Pensioners from Tuzla have been protesting for several months, asking the authorities to improve living conditions, primarily by increasing the average pension, which should amount to 52 percent of the average salary in the Federation of BiH (FBiH).
“This is the fifth protest, and our basic demand is to increase the average amount of pension, according to the European parameter, because we think that way, unlike the feudal-tribal government that made us a victim. Today, the budget has become a private sinecure of governing structures, better say their mafia. Their main job is corruption, theft, and different kinds of misdeeds that bring these people to the brink of ruin, “stressed one of the protest organizers, Vehid Jahic.
Also, the gathered pensioners noted that they were not asking for any alms, but for what they had earned. As they stated, most of them today receive a minimum pension that is not enough for a life worthy of a man.
“You can’t live well from your pension because it’s low. When I pay all the utilities and other obligations, I can somehow live, but the amount I receive is still not enough in relation to the past work I have and all that should belong to me,” told Ivan Milic, a participant in the protest.
The gathered pensioners said that they would protest until their social position is changed, and they announced a new gathering for February this year.
