“Public Bicycle System” in Sarajevo as of May

NEXTBIKENextbike public bicycles system arrives in May. The system itself foresees the placement of six terminals in attractive locations in the city. The system will have 50 bikes in total, which will be at disposal to all users of the Nextbike system.

Bike share offers an attractive transportation mode that has a favorable influence on physical and mental health of the citizens. Studies show that 20 minutes spent actively on a bike positively influence good mood in people who opt for this mode of transportation and recreation.

This projects brings numerous benefits to the local community, such as environmental protection, strengthening of awareness of healthy lifestyle, improvement of tourist offer, and many others. Public bicycle system will be available to everyone – from students to seniors. Stations where the bicycles are to be placed will be flexible (installations where the bikes will be rented), independent of the city network, and solar-powered.

The project also strengthens the awareness of sustainable development and places the City of Sarajevo on the world map of the cities supporting this project. The user who has a card for the use of public bikes in Sarajevo can use this service in Croatia, Poland, Austria and many other European countries.
