povelja.kulina-banaA public lecture entitled “825 years from the Charter of Ban Kulina” was held today in the premises of the Council of Bosnian intellectuals organized by VKBI, “Association of the Turkish-Bosnian friendship Bosfor” and the Association of democratic lawyers in B&H.

Hasan Balić, Ćazim Sadiković, Džemal Najetović, Emir Kremić and Rizvan Halilović spoke at the lecture.

A Rizvan Halilović said, the Charter is significant because it proves that B&H was at the time, 825 years ago, a sovereign country, that its ruler was sovereign and could guarantee to the ruler of another country e.g. the Republic of Dubrovnik that he guarantees safety to all those who come to his country.

Halilović compared the Charter of Ban Kulin with today’s Schengen – free circulation of people, merchandise, ideas and capital.

Emir Kremić said that this Charter is a document that can be seen from the aspect of the international law e.g. that B&H in the 12th century was making international contracts recognized as one of the most important sources of the international law.
