Along with the already famous puzzles of world metropolis and attractions, a puzzle representing the map of the Old Town of Sarajevo and its most important monuments is now available thanks to the project of the Municipality of Stari Grad. A unique project named “Puzzle of the Old Town” was created in the municipal Department for Local Development, and the first sets of puzzles are intended for all elementary schools from the Old Town, as well as PI Institute Mjedenica. Representatives of these institutions and their students attended the presentation of this project.

The Mayor of the Municipality of Stari Grad, Ibrahim Hadzibajric, said that he is proud that the Municipality started and realized this type of a project: “The students will no longer play with the puzzles of Paris, London, Rome and other world cities and countries. The Old Town is a unique place in the world, it is really a “European Jerusalem” and it has so much material for the puzzle,” said Mayor Hadzibajric. He added that children will be able to learn a lot about cultural and historical monuments of the Old Town.

The staff of the Department for Local Development of the Municipality of Stari Grad came up with the idea. Chief Selma Velic noted that their main goal is to make a product that will have the educational character, as well as a product with tourist interest for the Municipality of Stari Grad, Canton Sarajevo and our country. Besides the standard set, these puzzles are also available in the electronic version via smartphones in the Guide2Sarajevo application for free: “This represents an upgrade of the project that we realized last year when we created a mobile guide “Guide2Sarajevo” with the Association of “Keepers of the Tradition (Cuvari Tradicije),” said Selma Velic.

Director of Elementary School “Mula Mustafa Baseskija”, Jasmina Karasalihovic, welcomed this project: “This is very important for our children because they will learn something about their closest environment through play. That is the best way for them to learn.

A student of the third grade of this school, Belma Hantalasevic, liked the puzzle so much that she cannot wait to finally start playing with them: “I would like to keep these puzzles for myself and my class, and I want all of us to play with them together.”
