[wzslider]As part of the activities of the EU Delegation to BiH/Office of the Special Representative to mark Day of Europe, the traditional “Race for Europe” was held in Sarajevo yesterday.
The Representative of the Marathon Association Erol Mujanović noted that the participation of competitors was excellent despite the rain, so the conditions for the race were not the best.
“We organized a children’s race for the second year in a row, with around 100 children taking part in the race. After that, a race for adults was held, which gathered 200 competitors. A large number of recreational and professional runners from the region participated. Despite the bad weather, a beautiful sport event took place’’, said Mujanović.
Darko Živanović and Biljana Cvijanović were the winners of this year’s race for adults, which were held from BBI-Titova-Musala-Obala Kulina Bana-Telali-Mula Mustafe Bašeskije.
In 11 minutes and 26 seconds, Cvijanović completed the four-kilometer race, while Živanović ran for 11 minutes and one second.
This race was preceded by a race for children. The Children’s race was held from BBI-Vječna vatra-BBI.
Head of the EU Delegation to BiH Peter Sorensen participated. As to how BIH “stands in the race for Europe”, Sorensen said that this year BiH has not been moving quickly, and that countries in the region have already caught up.
