At an extraordinary session of the House of Representatives of the Parliament of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina(FBiH) which was held on Thursday, the proposal of the Law on Amendments to the Law on Electricity was adopted, which limits the increase in the price of electricity to 20 percent. For Elektroprivreda BiH, that means business losses, and for employers, this move is, as they mentioned, an appropriate measure.
After the chairman of the House of Representatives and the House of Peoples of the FBiH, the President of the FBiH,Marinko Cavara, signed the harmonized text of the Law, it was submitted to the Secretary of the Government of the FBiH for further reference in the FBiH Official Gazette. According to the government, only after the announcement and entry into force will the government be able to undertake activities within its competence.
”The general message is that it was necessary and much easier to reach a more practical and better amendment, which would mean increasing the price of electricity so as not to jeopardize the work and operations of Elektroprivreda, and on the other hand, that employers who have electricity supplies through the market supply model are satisfied. With this model that is currently being adopted, I’m not sure we’ll have both respected, “told Nermin Dzindic, Minister of Energy, Mining, and Industry of FBiH.
Elektroprivreda BiH, after warning from Thursday that such an implementation would mean they would experience a loss of 85 million marks in 2022, and which could jeopardize the agreement with miners to increase the price of coal by 20 percent, now reminded the Federation Government what are its obligations if there is a disturbance in the electricity market.
“The proposal of the conclusion was accepted, by which the FBiH Government is obliged to make an analysis of the effects of the decision on limiting the price of electricity after three months, that is by March 31st, 2022, propose possible corrections and submit them to the FBiH Parliament for discussion and statement,“ it was announced by Elektroprivreda BiH.
Employers are those who enter the New Year more relaxed. For them, this move is the upper limit, so they will not create a problem in business, the costs will not be transferred to the citizens, and they claim that Elektroprivreda is given space to take some money to cover a significant part of the cost of electricity for miners.
“Now it is the turn of the federal government to make its decision on the basis of this law, that decision must contain a lot of details that are not in this law now, and we hope that it will make this decision in a proper way,“ explained Adnan Smailbegovic, President of the Association of Employers of FBiH.
