kosevo-stadion‘’The reconstruction of the Olympic Stadium Asim Ferhatović Hase – Koševo should start in March, so that we could improve conditions for spectators, and which was requested of us by the European Football Association (UEFA)’’, said Jasmina Polić, Director of the Center for Sports and Recreation in Sarajevo, the company that manages the biggest stadium in B&H.

She said that the reconstruction works are expected to be finished by May of this year, when they await UEFA inspections.

‘’I believe that we will satisfy the requirements of UEFA, which year after year are more demanding. Koševo cannot be compared with other stadiums in the world, but we can improve the conditions at our Olympic building. We can think of serious modernization only when a regulation plan is adopted, meaning when we have clearly defined our finances’’, said Polić.

The reconstruction of Olympic Stadium in Sarajevo will be done using funds of UEFA in the amount of 89.000 Euros, and municipality Center, which is expected to invest an additional 50.000 BAM.

‘’Plumbing works in the entire stadium should be done, renovated locker rooms for teams in the east part of the stadiums, as well as for referees. We will also install automatic watering lawns’’, said Polić. She also added that ‘’We received 100.000 BAM from municipality Center for setting up seats in the entire western part of the stadium, and in other areas where chairs are missing. We should finish this by the beginning of May, so that the stadium would have around 34.000 seats based on UEFA standards’’.

Wireless Internet should soon be available at Koševo, and would to some extent improve the current poor conditions under which journalists work.
