The city authorities are conducting numerous infrastructure works before the European Youth Olympic Festival (EYOF), which will be held in Sarajevo next year, and the renovation of the Olympic Museum in the capital city of BiH started as well.
Renovation of the “original” Olympic Museum in Petrakijina Street, which is one of the symbols and the most representative objects of Austro-Hungarian architecture in our city, is currently taking place, according to the Facebook page of the Mayor of Sarajevo, Abdulah Skaka.
“In line with this reconstruction, the City of Sarajevo and Stari Grad will continue with the arrangement of Niza Banja Street, which is leading to the Olympic Museum in Sarajevo. We will do everything that we can in order for the Olympic Museum to welcome athletes and guests on EYOF, whose hosts will be Sarajevo and East Sarajevo, in a new edition,” as noted in the announcement on the occasion of the renovation of the Olympic Museum.
To recall, the museum in Petrakijina Street was destroyed during the war in Sarajevo, which is the reason why the exhibits and important collections of this museum were moved to the building of Olympic Committee in Alipasina Street, until the finalization of the reconstruction of the Olympic Museum.
To recall, EYOF 2019 is the largest Olympic sports festival in Sarajevo after ZOI ’84, at which will participate young athletes from 14 to 18 years of age. Winter and summer festival is organized every two years. EYOF is part of the European Olympic Committee that has exclusive rights to these events.
EYOF 2019 will take place in the capital city of BiH during the month of February of next year.
