reisReis-ul-Ulema of the Islamic Community in BiH Husein ef. Kavazovic participated at the conference organized by the think tank organization Friends of Europe as part of his meetings in Brussels.

Kavazovic said that BiH is a multiethnic and multireligious environment and that the duty of Bosnian Muslims is to build a tolerant society. He emphasized that Muslims must be open to new cultures and that it is very important to be open to traditions of the areas where they live.

Speaking on BiH, Kavazovic said that it is a European country and that “we hope that the doors of the EU will open for us”.

He also stated that politics cannot just put all the responsibility on religion and that everyone has to build a better society.

While responding to question of the attendees at the meeting of Friends of Europe, he noted that women and men are equal in BiH, especially when it comes to education and social rights.

“The case of BiH shows that equality between men and women in Muslim societies is possible,” stated Kavazovic.
