Many religious leaders in BiH have even greater authority than politicians, and it is very important for them to use this authority for the common good, reconciliation and a just society, as stated by the special envoy for the promotion of freedom of religion and beliefs outside the EU, Jan Figel.
Figel participated in the work of the round table “Religions and secularity in new relations”, which was organized by the Islamic Community in BiH.
“All members of society have their roles, and religious officials have especially important role because they inspire people and give them an example on how to live,” noted Figel.
Regarding the European path of BiH, he stated that this road is exclusively built in BiH and it depends on all of its citizens.
The host of the round table, Reisu-l-ulema of the Islamic Community in BiH Husein Ef. Kavazovic, noted that everyone have to respect the rules of open society.
He emphasized that the Islamic community is following the aforementioned path, and that it does not advocate for exclusivity, since that is not part of the religion.
“It is very important that we really believe in what we preach,” noted Mitropolitan Hrizostom.
“It is very important to hear our opinion that need to be part of our mutual relationships,” said Cardinal Puljic.
