The remains of at least one victim of the past war were exhumed at the site of Suhi Potok in the area of Kamenica Brdo (Bratunac municipality), which, according to the Institute for Missing Persons of Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH), most likely belong to a victim of the genocide committed in July 1995 in Srebrenica.
The Institute announced that the remains were found on the surface of the field, and after their removal, they were transferred to the Memorial Center in Tuzla, where forensic-technical and forensic-medical processing will follow. A bone sample will also be taken with the aim of identifying the victim with the help of DNA analysis.
The exhumation was carried out under the supervision of the Prosecutor’s Office of BiH, and by order of the State Court.
The Institute added that the Institute’s investigators, a forensic medicine doctor, workers and members of the Police Station from Bratunac were also present at the location during the clean-up of the grounds, who secured the area where the exhumation was carried out, Detektor writes.
