Remains of One Person from the Past War were found in Visegrad

During the exhumation at the Povjestača site, Višegrad municipality, almost complete remains of an adult male were found.

An expert associate from the Special Department for War Crimes of the BiH Prosecutor’s Office is on the ground in the Povjestača locality, Višegrad municipality, where he coordinates the activities of officials participating in the exhumation process in agreement with the acting prosecutor.

“Almost complete remains of an adult male were found at the said site. According to the collected information and preliminary findings, these are the remains of a victim of Bosniak nationality, who disappeared in 1992,” announced the BiH Prosecutor’s Office.

The remains will be sent to the mortuary in Goražde for the purpose of taking a DNA sample and further forensic-medical processing, and in order to establish the identity.

The exhumation process was attended by a forensic pathologist, representatives of the Institute for Missing Persons (INO) of Bosnia and Herzegovina, representatives of the International Commission for Missing Persons (ICMP), necessary workers and machinery, and the location was secured by members of the MUP of the RS, PS Višegrad.
