The remains of a victim of the last war were exhumed today in the area of the municipality of Ugljevik.

The remains of this victim, a man, over 50 years old, were found on the line of the Army of Republika Srpska, more precisely in a trench in this locality.

According to the operational data of the Institute for Missing Persons of Bosnia and Herzegovina, it is most likely a victim of Bosniak nationality who was brought to this location during the war years from the “Batković” camp, and from where the camp inmates were actually brought to dig trenches during the war years.

After the exhumation, the remains were taken to the Memorial Center in Tuzla, where their forensic – medical and criminal – technical processing will follow, as well as the extraction of bone samples with the aim of identifying the victim using the DNA method.

The exhumation was carried out under the supervision of the Prosecutor’s Office of Bosnia and Herzegovina and by order of the Court of Bosnia and Herzegovina, and the exhumation process was attended by a forensic pathologist, an investigator from the Institute for Missing Persons of Bosnia and Herzegovina and the Prosecutor’s Office of Bosnia and Herzegovina, necessary workers and machinery, as well as police employees of the local police, who secured the location and provided crime-technical support in the exhumation process, the Institute for Missing Persons of BiH announced.
