In the attack that took place on Tuesday evening in Visegrad, Bahrudin Gušo, a returnee to the Drinsko settlement, was brutally beaten.

Due to injuries to his head, he was first transported to the Visegrad Health Center, from where he was transferred to the Emergency Center of the Cantonal Hospital in Goražde, and then to the Clinical Center of the University of Sarajevo, where he is currently being treated.

As confirmed by his brother Fahrudin, he was seriously injured by the driver of Višegrad mayor Marko Simeunović.

The incident happened in front of the ceremonial hall in Bikavac, where an evening for businessmen was being held, which was also attended by Bahrudin.

“I know that the mayor of the municipality invited them to a businessman’s dinner at the Bikavac restaurant, but my brother, who is the president of the Drinsko local community, was ambushed at the exit of the restaurant, and the mayor’s driver, Marko Simeunović, met him outside and hit him with a gun. I don’t know if it’s an official gun or not, but there are people who saw it, there is video surveillance and we will look for it all,” said Fahrudin Gušo.

He hopes that the police will conduct the investigation properly and claims that he will leave nothing to chance.

“We will not let this go and I would like to hear the chief tell us the reason for the attack because the chief’s driver did it. All I heard about it was that it was done for national reasons. I believe that the police will do their job, if they don’t, the international police will. We were not afraid, I lost two brothers in ’92. year, but there are more of us brothers, we will not let this go. They didn’t scare us,” Gušo said.

He reminded that his brother Bahrudin had returned to Drinsko from Austria, noting that he was invited to meetings with the mayor of Višegrad and that he always advocated reconciliation and living together.

The police officers of the Višegrad Police Station have identified a person from Višegrad who is suspected of causing serious physical injuries to the person G.B. from Visegrad.

“The Višegrad Police Station was informed by the doctor on duty at the Višegrad Health Center that the person G.B. with the injuries that he reported on 30.01.2024. around 11:45 p.m. by an unknown person in front of the salon in Bikavac, Višegrad municipality. The prosecutor on duty of the East Sarajevo District Public Prosecutor’s Office was informed about the incident, who qualified the incident as a criminal offense of “Grievous bodily harm” and authorized police officers to take all measures and actions in order to document and prove the said criminal offense.”
