Rowing Marathon held at Jablanica Lake

The XIII Traditional Rowing Marathon was held on Jablanica Lake as part of the “Jablanica Summer 2018” event, under the sponsorship of the Municipality of Jablanica. The organizer of this event was the Youth Club “Under the same sun”.

Numerous fans of this event and guests from the political, religious and economic life of the Municipality of Jablanica attended the opening of this traditional event on the beach “Vila” in Ostrozac. The Mayor of the Municipality of Jablanica Salem Dedic talked about the importance of wooden boat for people living in the villages around the lake, and the importance of the rowing marathon for Jablanica and its tourist offer.

A total of 17 teams took part in the competition in traditional, 3.5 meters long and 50 centimetres deep, wooden boats on a 4.210 meters long trail from the beach “Vila” in Ostrozac to the beach “Peta” in Donje Paprasko. The winning crew, Sahinovic Smajo and Vodjo Ragib, came to the finish line in 28 minutes and 57 seconds. The second-place went to crew of Ramo Graho and Nihad Zerem who arrived 23 seconds behind the winners, while the third-place went to Husrep Fikret and Mevludin Pozder, who came to the finish line in 30 minutes and 23 seconds.

The Mayor handed over medals, plaques and cash prizes in the amount of 500, 300 and 200 BAM to the winners at the finish line of the Rowing Marathon at the “Peta” beach in Donje Paprasko. The awarding ceremony was followed by music and entertainment program.
