At the Zaluzani airport near city of Banja Luka, a new helicopter, whose special purpose is air medical transportation, was presented today.

Republika Srpska (RS) took a loan in the amount of 9.3 million BAM to purchase the helicopter from the Italian company “Leonardo”.

President of RS Milorad Dodik said that this multi-purpose aircraft was purchased in order to rescue citizens’ lives when needed.

“I often travel with them, there are many challenges. A courage is needed to do this job, not every day is beautiful, sometimes there are weather disasters… but I enjoyed with them, “Dodik said during his addressing.

RS Prime Minister Zeljka Cvijanovic said this was a justified investment and that two or three additional helicopters should soon be procured.

“If one life has been saved, one package of food delivered in floods and one fire extinguished, then this is a justified investment,” Cvijanovic said. RS Helicopter Service Director Dejan Kusturic said that their biggest reward and professional success is to save human life.
