Republika Srpska will get a new helicopter for rescuing endangered lives and property after the Helicopters Service of the RS signed a contract with the Italian company Leonardo S.p.A. on the purchase of aircraft.

It is the helicopter model AW119Kx, whose value is 9.336.600 BAM, and special accessories for better operationalization of this aircraft will be purchased as well.

“The helicopter is new, multifunctional and serves the needs of the Helicopter Service of the RS, exclusively for civilian purposes. Besides passenger transportation, the helicopter will be used for medical evacuation, fire extinguishing and transportation of firefighters to the zone of fire, evacuation of the population in emergency situations and cargo transportation in case of elemental disasters such as floods, earthquakes, snowfalls, fires, and similar,” said Sonja Bozic, Senior Contributor to Public Procurement for the Helicopter Service of the RS.

“The purchase of this helicopter will improve all services related to aviation medical transport, cooperation with the Republic Administration for Civil Protection, as well as numerous other benefits in case of an accident,” said Bozic.

The helicopter has a bigger capacity than any other in the RS, and this model is used worldwide. Pilots and aeronautical technical staff of the Helicopter Service will have to undergo special training in order to use this helicopter.
