wind-farmThe Council of Ministers of BiH determined the Proposal of the credit agreement and the project between KfW, Frankfurt am Main (KfW) and BiH, represented by the Ministry of Finance and Treasury, the Ministry of Finance and Elektroprivreda of RS (agency for the execution of the project) in the amount of 60 million EUR for the Wind Power Plant Hrgud.

With the construction of the Wind Power Plant Hrgud, the RS will get the first facility of this type, which will produce energy from renewable sources.

In previous preparatory activities, KfW funded project of measurement of the characteristics of wind in the RS, for which is provided 600,000 EUR of grant funds.

“Measurements were made at five locations and for each of them was made pre-feasibility study. Based on the measurement results and the recommendations of the study, Elektroprivreda of RS is committed to Hrgud as one of the most promising locations, where the estimated net annual production is 126 GWh. On the basis of 12-month data set are annual wind speed ranging from 6.1 to 8.1 m/s, depending on the precise position of the base. The total investment value of the project amounts to 64.5 million EUR, of which 4.5 million EUR of its own funds, and the rest is provided through a loan from the KfW,” as stated from Elektroprivreda of RS.

Total planned time required for the construction of a wind power plant is 3 years, of which 2 years are required for the preparatory activities and 1 year for concrete construction.

“The preparatory work on the project include the development of a study of impact assessment on the environment, which requires implementation of ornithological research (one-year observation of migrating birds, bats and other species at the project site). For these activities, KfW will provide a grant in the amount of 200,000 EUR,” as announced from the ERS.

Furthermore, in accordance with the rules of KfW, the realization of the project requires a consultant who will be responsible for preparing a detailed preliminary design, which includes access roads and connection to the transmission network. After the adoption of the initial project, this will be followed in the preparation of tender documents and selection of contractors. Preparatory activities are very demanding and it could be said that they are placed in a very short time frame, because we are eagerly waiting for the signature of the credit agreement, in order to continue with the implementation, as stated from the ERS.
