Russia could soon make a vaccine against cancer, Russian President Vladimir Putin said.

“We are close to creating a cancer vaccine and immunomodulatory drugs of a new generation. I hope that they will soon be effectively used as methods of individual therapy,” Putin said at the plenary session of the Future Technologies Forum.

According to him, during the year 2023, 530 Russian medicines developed by leading Russian scientists were registered.

The Russian leader noted that, thanks to their efforts, the production of numerous Russian equipment used in cardiovascular surgery, rheumatology, rehabilitation and other fields was launched for the first time.

Putin pointed out that Russian science and medicine must be sovereign in order to be ready for all challenges.

“We have significant achievements, but we also need to go further, to continue this work, and at a qualitatively new level, to increase self-sufficiency and become global leaders in the key areas of development of medical technologies, as well as to be ready for all challenges, including threats from outbreaks of new global epidemics,” added the Russian leader.
