In the next ten days, the reception centers “Bira” in Bihac and “Miral” in Velika Kladusa should be completely closed, is confirmed on Tuesday by the Prime Minister of the Una Sana Canton, Mustafa Ruznic. He pointed out that this is one of the most important conclusions of the meeting that the Minister of Security of BiH Selmo Cikotic held in Sarajevo last Monday with the representatives of the authorities of Una-Sana Canton, and with international organizations that monitor migrant issues in BiH, Vijesti.ba news portal reports.

“There are no more admissions of new migrants in “Bira” and “Miral” and we are moving in the direction of their final closure. At the same time, it was agreed to expand the reception capacities in the Lipa camp, where migrants would be accommodated in a much larger number,” Ruznic pointed out.

When it comes to migrants residing in the area of Velika Kladusa, local authorities should determine a new location outside the city area, where, following the example of Lipa, a reception camp would be formed to accommodate migrants.

Ruznic added that, in order to proceed with the closure of the two centers, the relocation of underage migrants residing in them must begin. According to estimates, there are more than 500 such minors and the plan is to place them in other reception centers outside Una-Sana Canton.

“We submitted documentation and lists with the names of minor migrants and the Asylum Service was given the task to initiate the necessary activities related to their relocation, said Ruznic. He confirmed that the conclusions of the USC Migrant Crisis Task Force on the ban on the transport and arrival of migrants in the area of this canton remain valid. Members of the cantonal police continued to relocate migrants from the urban areas of Bihac and Velika Kladusa yesterday, and their transport was organized to the inter-entity separation line near Bosanska Otoka, at the entrance to Una-Sana Canton.”
