Successful BH businesswoman and humanitarian Sanela Jenkins sent yesterday via her Facebook account an open letter to the „citizens and leaders“ of B&H, Serbia and Croatia. In the light of current political happenings in the region, Jenkins called on for interpersonal appreciation, respect of sovereignty and territorial integrity, and for joint building of strong and stable countries.
Bosnia and Herzegovina: Here I am subjective, of course. In order for the region to be peaceful, Bosnia must be peaceful. Without the peaceful Bosnia, there is no peace in the region either. That is why we don’t need others to complicate an already complicated situation. However, this should not be falsely interpreted as we are worth less, we can endure under water a lot longer than someone thinks, but we only say that there is no need. Because if it is not good for the citizens in B&H, neither it will be to the neighboors. The problem is not that much in those who do not love Bosnia, but in those who love it but don’t know that. There is something in Bosnia called merhamet, meaning something like „soft heart, good people“. It is a good trait, but that merhamet can sometimes be ruinous and the person who owns it might look very naive. That is why our leaders should walk through these turbulent times with head high up, instead of looking confused, non-state and naive. I have a feeling that it is like that in these days, so it would be good if those who represent us snatched a little. Everyone needs reconciliation, because people are tired on both sides of the Drina River. Reconciliation cannot be sought for, and the crime of genocide negated. Those two cannot work together. People know that, so those who say for themselves that they represent that people should know it as well.
