After an eight-hour debate, members of the Sarajevo Canton Assembly voted 23 votes in favor, 10 against and one abstention, and adopted a budget for 2019 in the amount of 941,762,186 BAM, which compared to the draft was higher by 13,391 .310 BAM.

During the presentation of the budget, Sarajevo Canton Prime Minister Edin Forto said that the revision of the budget will be in March, and that the Government will then review all the proposed amendments.

The representatives of the Party of Democratic Action (SDA) insisted for Assembly to vote on their amendments. However, ll 76 amendments were rejected.

During the debate Mirza Celik from SDA said that the technique of imposing an amendment was a political move, and that the government should nevertheless consider amendments. Otherwise, Celik said, the SDA Club will not support the Draft Budget.

He emphasized that he proposed 32 amendments related to air quality, the Cantonal Public Utility Company GRAS, and that he did not understand why the Government did not adopt any. He specifically outlined the proposed amendments related to increasing funds for better energy efficiency of health centers and primary schools, reconstruction of the intersection in Lužani settlement, purchase of the water protection zone in Ilidza and increase of funds for the construction of the school on Stup.

“All the opposition once criticized, nowadays, when they are in power, they proposed the same,” said Celik.

Aljosa Campara from SDA party spoke about the reduced funds for the Office of the Prime Minister of CS, stressing that these funds were only transferred to other ministries.
