Sarajevo Canton got its third government in the last two years today, and its prime minister will again be Edin Forto from Nasa stranka (NS). That is what the new majority in the Canton Sarajevo Assembly decided. 23 people voted for the appointment of the government, 6 abstained and 6 voted against.

Apart from Naša stranka, the new majority consists of Narod i pravda (NiP), the Social Democratic Party (SDP) and independent representatives (Četvorka), Klix.ba writes.

Representatives of the Party of Democratic Action (SDA), SBB and DF replaced the government of the Six, and at the beginning of March last year, a new government was formed, consisting of SDA, SBB and DF.

The prime minister was Mario Nenadic, and then the new parliamentary majority voted no confidence in Nenadic’s government at the end of last year. The NiP will have the most ministers in the new government – seven, the SDP will have three, the NS one, while one minister has been appointed on the proposal of independent deputies.

NiP ministers are Admir Katica (internal affairs), Adnan Delic (economy), Enver Hadziahmetovic (communal economy, infrastructure, spatial planning, construction and environmental protection), Ivana Prvulovic (labor, social policy, displaced persons and refugees), Naida Hota-Muminović (education), Omer Osmanović (veterans’ issues) and Samir Avdić (culture and sports). SDP ministers are Adnan Steta (transport), Haris Vranic (health) and Davor Cicic (finance). Lejla Brčić from the National Assembly is the Minister of Justice, while Melika Husić-Mehmedović is the Minister of Science, Higher Education and Youth, and she was nominated by independent MPs.

As they stated, the priorities of the new government in the Sarajevo Canton, among others, are the fight against the coronavirus pandemic and corruption.
