Sarajevo City Hall yesterday celebrated its 122nd birthday.

The City Hall was one of the victims during the period of aggression on BiH from 1992 to 1995.

Sarajevo City Hall was shelled several times, and it was set on fire on August 25, 1992. The Catalog of the National and University Library of BiH disappeared in flames, as well as around 80 % of the library fund and documents that were testimonies of the history of BiH.

More than 2 million books, documents and archives were set on fire.

The external construction of the building was saved thanks to great efforts of firefighters and the incredible patriotism of many residents of Sarajevo, and the later renovation was possible thanks to them.

The reconstruction of the City Hall and its opening is a message to all aggressors on the state and country of BiH and all creators and implementers of genocide against the citizens of BiH that the idea of Bosnia and the spirit of Bosnia are Bosnian response to acceptance, respect of other and different, and it always won against evil and fascism, aggression and genocide.
