bypass2Starting from today, Sarajevo is connected with the Corridor 5C through the 3rd section of the bypass, which should make the end of the traffic jams in the direction of Rajlovac and Brijesce.

The official opening of the 3rd section of the Sarajevo bypass, which was constructed before the deadline, took place today on the Butila loop, probably the largest object on the Corridor 5C, which is consisted of 3 levels in order to ensure the flow of traffic in the following directions: Sarajevo bypass in directions of Zenica and Mostar and entering or exiting Sarajevo in the direction of Zenica and Mostar.

The ceremonial ribbon was cut by the Chairman of the Presidency of B&H Dragan Covic. The opening ceremony was attended by President of the FB&H Marinko Cavara and Prime Minister of the FB&H Fadil Novalic.

Brijesce Viaduct was the most difficult object on the 4-kilometers long route.

Investor of LOT 2A is the Government of FB&H from the loan of the EIB, the EBRD, the OPEC Fund, and the budget for expropriation, while the contractor is the Roads of FB&H on behalf of the Government of FB&H. The works were conducted by the company Euro-Asfalt and ZGP, while the total value of contracted works was estimated to 23,365,226 BAM.

Using of the entire bypass on the highway A1 was and will remain free of charge.

“Through the action plan of the Reform Agenda, the Government of FB&H predicted significant intensification of investments in the road communication, not only because it is increasing our economic activity and employment, but because these communications have become a question of standards. We want to meet the standards that will connect us further with Europe,” said the Prime Minister, Fadil Novalic.

He added that the construction of the network of highways as a priority commitment is very important for overall economic growth.

Minister of Transport and Communications of FB&H Denis Lasic said that with putting into function of these sections we are getting closer to completing of the entire route of the Sarajevo bypass and connecting it to the entire highway from Zenica to Tarcin, which is a very significant section of the Corridor 5C.

“I think that there is no better way to celebrate the Statehood Day of B&H and that there is no better gift to the citizens than the opening of this modern road, the gate of the capital of B&H that will allow faster traffic flow and also significantly reduce traffic jams,” said Lasic.

He recalled that the Government of FB&H appointed Roads of FB&H as contractors of Sarajevo Bypass by the decision in 2005 through the Federal Ministry of Transport and Communications. The ministry, noted Lasic, is decisive in giving continuous support to the Roads of FB&H, which is justified with impressive results achieved in the short period of time.

“I am also very pleased with the fact that domestic companies, Euro-Asfalt and ZGP Sarajevo as contractors, completed this section much before the deadline and thus proving that they have the strength and capacity to perform a quality job and take equal place in the race with much larger foreign companies,” said Lasic.

Director of the Roads of FB&H Ljubo Pravdic talked about technical characteristics of the Butila loop and section Bypass Butila-Brijesce-Stup LOT 2, and the expenditure of the funds within the project.
