The Cantonal Court in Sarajevo sentenced Idriz Begić to one and a half years in prison, accused of having received 2,800 euros from the accused for forest theft as a prosecutor of the Cantonal Prosecutor’s Office in Bihać, so that he would be given a suspended sentence instead of prison.
According to the indictment, Begić is accused of demanding and receiving 2,800 euros from the accused for forest theft from October to December 2016, as a prosecutor of the Cantonal Prosecutor’s Office in Bihać, after he convinced him that he was facing a prison sentence, the Cantonal Prosecutor’s Office announced.
He did this in order to use his real, official and influential position to mediate with the judge of the Municipal Court in Cazin that the defendant be given a suspended sentence, and at the same time he promised that he would ensure that such a verdict would not be appealed to the prosecutors.
In this way, Begić obtained an unfair property benefit of 2,800 euros, which was taken away from him by the pronounced verdict.
