The European championship in salsa, bachati and merengue will be held on the first day of the festival to host participants from 20 countries and international jury from 14 countries while on the second day the European Cup in hip-hop will take place.
At the dance club Aster was stated that the organizational help will be also provided by the Dance academy Romantik and was announced that they will do their best so that everything goes according to the plan and at the highest level possible.
“It’s a great honour for us to get the chance to organize such a great competition in our town. We earn the trust of the International dance organization (IDO) representing 250 000 dancers from 90 states thanks to the excellent results our dancers achieved in the last few years which certainly stimulates us to continue that way in the future too.” – said the owner of the DC Aster and the president of the organization board Sarajevo Dance Festival and the world champion in salsa dancing, Vedran Marčeta.
The organizers expressed their hopes to see this competition contribute to the popularization of dance art in B&H.
“Dance art is still not so present in our country as it is elsewhere, although we have some dancing clubs which are quite successful. This will be an ideal chance for the citizens to get to know several types of dances and I believe everyone will be able to find something interesting during the festival.” – pointed out Marčeta and invited once more everyone interested to visit Dom Mladih on October 18th and 19th where, after the ceremony to announce the winner on October 18th, a big dance party entitled “International salsa party” will be held.
The DC Aster was founded in 1986 and got its name after the famous American dancer Fred Astair (1899-1987). Due to the great intercession of the club’s members, the Dance Federation of B&H became part of the International federation of sport dances in 1994 (IDSF). The DC Aster had to stop with its work in 2000 but thanks to enthusiasm of Vedran Marčeta, it restarted with its activities this year.
