Sarajevo Doctors issued an Appeal: Stop killing Children in Gaza and in the World

Doctors from Sarajevo who studied at the Faculty of Medicine in Sarajevo from 1965-1970 have issued an open letter calling on world leaders to stop killing children and civilians in Gaza, Ukraine, and anywhere in the world.

“We, the undersigned doctors, who studied together at the Faculty of Medicine in Sarajevo from 1965-1970, and who, as a unique generation, have remained together through thick and thin for almost six decades, we, who survived the horrors of war in which many of us lost family members, friends, and colleagues, we, who witnessed the killing of civilians and innocent children.

Not reconciled with the evil primarily happening in Gaza but also in Ukraine, where civilians, and especially children, are killed every day, we have decided to send this open letter—a plea to all humanity, and especially an appeal to the powerful,” they stated in the letter.

“Gentlemen, heads of states and governments, members of parliaments, representatives in institutions established to work for the good of humanity such as the United Nations (UN), World Health Organization (WHO), UNICEF, RED CROSS, DOCTORS WITHOUT BORDERS, European Union (EU), BRICS, and all others, why have you betrayed and rendered meaningless all those functions? Do you have children and grandchildren? Have you ever wondered what you are doing? Have you thought that you too could find yourself in a similar situation as in Gaza?” they asked.

“Gentlemen, powerful leaders, we call on you to become aware and stop the killing of children and civilians, to resolve misunderstandings through dialogue, not war, because only peace can bring progress and a secure future for humanity. In conclusion, we call on all our colleagues and their associations, all humanitarian organizations, religious leaders, intellectuals, and all good people to join our appeal and thus justify our existence,” they concluded in the open letter, doctors freshmen of the Faculty of Medicine Sarajevo, generation 1965–1970.
