The Sarajevo Energy Forum (SEF) 2025, one of the most important regional events dedicated to energy transition and sustainability, has successfully concluded, where leading experts, decision-makers and private sector representatives discussed key challenges and opportunities in the field of renewable energy sources, energy efficiency and green technology innovations.

The Sarajevo Energy Forum 2025 adopted the following conclusions:

Accelerating the energy transition – Investments in renewable energy sources need to be increased to ensure the stability and long-term sustainability of the energy sector in the region;

Regional cooperation – Strengthening partnerships among the Western Balkan countries is key to achieving common goals in the field of energy security and decarbonization;

Supporting innovation and digitalization – Digital technologies and smart energy solutions play a key role in optimizing consumption and efficiency;

The importance of policies and regulations – It is necessary to harmonize legal frameworks with European standards to enable faster market integration and the development of sustainable energy projects;

Community Involvement and Education – Raising awareness among citizens and educating future generations of experts are key factors for the successful implementation of green solutions.

The first day of SEF was opened by the President of the Organizing Committee Senad Šepić, Yasemin Terle, Manager of Solarex Istanbul, one of the world’s largest trade fairs and a partner of the Energy Expo, which was held as part of this year’s Sarajevo Energy Forum and will be an integral part of future gatherings, as well as GIZ Project Manager Nicolas Heger and the President of the Foreign Trade Chamber of BiH Vjekoslav Vuković. The topic of the market and the future was discussed by Hikmet Muratović (HIFA OIL), General Director of Elektroprivreda BiH Sanel Buljubašić, Dejan Drašković from MEPEX – the Montenegro Electricity Exchange, President of MARES Slobodan Popovski and Director of ASA Energija Mirsad Šabanović.

After that, the topics of storage, CBAM and preparation of the economy and network development, financing of RES projects, artificial intelligence in energy and smart meters, and the implementation of energy laws were discussed.

A special focus of the second day of the program was on panels regarding the potential, good practices and environmental protection in the fields of solar, wind, hydroelectric power plants, biomass and green hydrogen.

Opportunities in the field of agrosolar and dual use of agricultural land, as well as the synergy of agriculture and waste management in energy production, were also presented. The use of natural gas to reduce CO2 emissions was also presented – CNG filling stations – an example of good practice, while the panelists discussed the topic “ESG in the construction of energy infrastructure and project development, and how to attract investments and report on sustainability”.

Leonida Hadžimuratović from the Federal Ministry of Physical Planning spoke about energy efficiency and the role of building renovation in the decarbonization process. The panel “Energy Transition as a Driver of Successful Businesses and Organizations” also aroused interest, SEF announced.

The organizers expressed satisfaction with the large response and active participation of participants and exhibitors at the Energy Fair, and announced the continuation of initiatives aimed at a sustainable energy future.

The forum closed with the announcement of the Electric and Hybrid Vehicle Week EV WEEK 2025, which will be held from 17 to 18 April this year, and the Sarajevo Energy Forum 2026, within which the Energy Exhibitors Fair will be held again, scheduled for 28 – 30 January next year, Fena writes.
