A few Days after the Death of her Friend Hatidza: Another ‘Fashion Icon’ of Sarajevo also passed away

Samija-Samka Ceric, who attracted attention on the streets of Sarajevo every day with her fashion choices, passed away at the age of 71.

This news came only a few days after the death of her best friend, Hatidza Colakovic.

Samka Ceric and her friend Hatidza Colakovic stood out with their unique styles and fashion combinations, and in an earlier interview, they said they wanted to be an inspiration to women in Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH).

“We met in Donji Vakuf on the Vrbas, and since then we have never separated in the sense that we stay in touch with each other even when we are far apart,” Ceric and Colakovic said earlier.

Because of the war, Ceric went to the United States (U.S.), and she spent her time between Phoenix and Los Angeles, where her daughters lived. After retiring, she decided to return to Sarajevo, where she walked along Ferhadija every day with her friend Hatidza.

“Look, I am not a lady. I am an average Bosnian woman. Ladies live in castles, ladies do not get up at four in the morning, a lady does not cook, a lady does not work. I am just a woman who likes to be well put together, for myself. I enjoy it, and I think it is enough for a woman to be addressed as ‘Mrs.’,” Ceric said.

The funeral prayer for Samija Ceric was performed yesterday in the Bijeli Harem cemetery.
