160924036-4_mnMinistry of Culture and Sports of the Sarajevo Canton is the holder of all activities related to the project of construction of the facility with whose implementation the artists will get better working conditions, the city will get a new stage, and it will also contribute to cost reduction during the stay of artists from abroad and enable the arrival of more significant artistic figures.

The plan is to build a facility with a small stage with 225 seats, a workshop and hotel accommodation at the locality of the current workshop of the National Theatre, Terezije Street number 52.

Minister of Culture and Sports of the Sarajevo Canton Mirvad Kurić stated that this is an important and cost-effective project that will contribute to the development of the entire field of culture in the Sarajevo Canton.

Kurić said that one part of works will be financed by the Ministry and they are currently negotiating with potential investors. Many negotiations are open, but the most important thing is that everyone is willing to participate in the implementation of this project.

“By the end of the year we will know when the works will commence. I believe that a part of funds will also be provided for the beginning of works next year. We must provide around 200.000 BAM for detailed design and I believe one part of that money will also be used for completion of a part of works. We have good will, investors are responding, and I think there will be no problems. It means a lot to us to open a new theatre stage because this city needs it,” said Kurić.
