Sarajevo Highway to connect to the Safeta Zajke Street this Year?

City Highway sarajevski.baJudging by the words of Mirsad Dizdarević from the Roads of FB&H, the optimistic plan of this enterprise includes launching and finishing the construction of LOT 2C within the Sarajevo bypass this year.

This is actually continuation of construction of the City highway, but which would become improvised in terms of temporary connection to the Safeta Zajke Street.

“According to current information we dispose with, i.e. the completed project documentation, LOT 2C continues from the roundabout Briješće, from where it crosses to the bulk part and is divided into two stages. A pergola will be constructed at the railway crossing and behind it the road will connect to the Safeta Zajke Street, with a small roundabout,” Dizdarević said.

Length of the section is a little under one kilometer, and besides connecting to the Safeta Zajke Street there is another option which includes connection to the IX transversal. However, that depends on the expropriation which is not under jurisdiction of the Roads of FB&H, but under the competencies of the Novi Grad Municipality and the Ministry for Transportation of the Sarajevo Canton.

“The basic thing is to connect the Safeta Zajke Street with the Sarajevo bypass, with which we will make a huge relieve when it comes to entrance to and exit from the city. Tender for the contractor has been announced, and the bids are to be opened on January 15 when we will have a clear picture of the most favorable bidder with whom we will sign the contract. In case everything is ready, we believe that the contractor could be on the construction site on March 1,” DIzdarević explained.

Deadline for completion of works is indicated in the tender and amounts to seven or eight months, which means that the works might be completed in October.

Moreover, it is worth pointing out that the connection to the Safeta Zajke Street represents a temporary solution, while the permanent solution includes continuation of construction of the City highway towards the east, i.e. towards CIglane. According to unofficial information, the connection should be on the place of the future connection to the planned IX transversal.
