Traditionally, the national flags are fluttering on institutions and other facilities in the capital of Bosnia and Herzegovina on the occasion of the Statehood Day. Streets of Sarajevo were empty this morning and there was no usual crowd, since it is a non-working day.

Apart from the national flag, flags with lilies could also be seen in several places. Flag with lilies was an official symbol of the Republic of Bosnia and Herzegovina from 1992 until 1998.

The Statehood Day of BiH is not marked in the entire country. In the majority of BiH cities, flowers were laid on memorials. In Sarajevo this was done by national, entity and cantonal officials.

Today is a non-working day and a holiday in FBiH, but the entity of Republika Srpska does not mark this day.

On November 25, 1943 the Resolution of the State Anti-fascist Council for the National Liberation of Bosnia and Herzegovina (ZAVNOBiH) was adopted at the first session of ZAVNOBiH in Mrkonjić Grad. In the resolution, the people of BiH state their determination to make their country a brotherly community in which everyone will have equal rights and their determination to ensure equality of the Republic of BiH within the Yugoslav federation, with historical borders that date back to the period of the medieval Bosnia.
