Sarajevo Schools received Permission to shorten Classes if necessary due to Ramadan

The Ministry of Education has given consent to the schools ofCanton Sarajevo (CS) to shorten the duration of classes in the second shift due to the month of Ramadan.

“Just like last year and this year, we gave consent to the schools that during the month of Ramadan, applying a reasonable adjustment, they can shorten the duration of classes in the second shift, all classes in the long shift or the last classes, all depending on how long classes last in each school. The goal is to allow fasting students free time for iftar,” Minister Naida Hota Muminovic explained.

Hota Muminovic explains that the principals will organize the educational process in accordance with this agreement.

The president of the Cantonal Board of the Independent Union of Basic Education of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina (FBiH) Saudin Sivro asked why the Ministry should interfere in these matters.

“The question arises, why does the ministry not get involved in much more important matters. For us, it is a populist decision. The minister could have made such a decision before the beginning of Ramadan, last week, and not after the request of individuals, probably from her party or her friends, and these are ad hoc decisions. Everything that the minister does leads to the collapse of the education system,” said Sivro.

Sivro states that the question arises as to what happens to students who do not have iftar and why they are in a situation where classes are shortened for them as well.

“It is definite that ‘SAFER‘ has changed a lot in the education system lately,” concluded Sivro, Klix.ba writes.
