studenti protestThe Student Parliament of the University of Sarajevo called on all students, youth and citizens of Sarajevo to continue the protests.

The gathering is scheduled for today at 12:00 on Trg Oslobođenja – Alija Izetbegović, from where they will peacefully start the protest walk towards the BiH Parliament and join other protestors.

It was announced that, on their way to the BiH Parliament, students will stand in front of the building of the Canton Sarajevo government and submit their requests that are under the jurisdiction of the Canton government, such as issues of student standards, impairment of tranches from the Canton budget to the University in Sarajevo, as well as the announced increase in tuition.

This protest is the continuation of a big protest that was held on Friday, 7 June.

The protests will be organized as a support to the initiative of citizens that blocked the Parliament and requested an immediate adoption of a law on the unique master citizen number, since babies born from February of this year are denied their basic human rights.

“From the start, the Student Parliament gave support to the protests that requested that problem of the unique citizen master number to be solved. We are now becoming fully involved in the protests, and as representatives of the oldest university in BiH, we are organizing our students and all young people with a plan to have a large number of students and young people included in the protests through our project ‘’Studentski Pohodi’’, said in a statement.

The statements also says: Our main motive is to call on the obligations of our parliamentarians and government officials who are not doing their jobs, and in this way they are denying us the future that we deserve.

“We are also calling on all students and young people to, as much as they are able, join the protestors in front of the BiH Parliament, where for several days already we are expressing our dissatisfaction with our parliamentarians’’, announced the Student Parliament of the University in Sarajevo.
