Sarajevo to host the Annual Meeting of Constituent Assembly of the WB and IMF

The annual meeting of the Constituent Assembly, a group of member countries of the World Bank and the International Monetary Fund (IMF) to which Bosnia and Herzegovina belongs, led by the Netherlands and Belgium, will be held on September 15 in Sarajevo, and Bosnia and Herzegovina will host this important international meeting, announced is from the Council of Ministers of Bosnia and Herzegovina.

In addition to high representatives of the IMF and the World Bank, the participation of more than ten governors of central banks and nine ministers and deputy ministers of finance of the member countries has been confirmed.

It will be an opportunity for the participants to exchange opinions and discuss policies and programs of the IMF and the World Bank, as well as other key issues for the European and world economy, such as current issues of inflation and energy security, transition and cooperation. In addition, the achievements of 30 years of partnership between Bosnia and Herzegovina, the IMF and the World Bank will be discussed.

Numerous bilateral meetings of officials are also planned.

As announced, the media will be addressed by Zoran Tegeltija, Governor of Bosnia and Herzegovina at the International Monetary Fund and Chairman of the Council of Ministers of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Bisera Turković, Governor of Bosnia and Herzegovina at the World Bank and Minister of Foreign Affairs, Cohen Davidse, Executive Director of the World Bank, Paul Hilbers, Executive Director of the International of the Monetary Fund, Axel van Trotsenburg, Managing Director at the World Bank and Bo Li, Deputy Managing Director of the IMF.

On Friday, September 16, the participants of the Constituent Assembly will visit key landmarks and projects of the World Bank in Bosnia and Herzegovina.

The meeting of the Constituent Assembly in BiH was supposed to be held in June 2020, but it was postponed due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

The Dutch-Belgian constituency, in addition to the Netherlands, Belgium and Bosnia and Herzegovina, also includes Armenia, Belgium, Bulgaria, Montenegro, Georgia, Croatia, Israel, Cyprus, Luxembourg, Moldova, North Macedonia, Romania and Ukraine.

Meetings of the Constituent Assembly are held every year in one of the member countries.

The purpose of organizing meetings is to discuss issues important to the member countries of the Constituency. It is also an opportunity for finance ministers and governors of central banks of member countries of the Constituency to discuss economic and financial issues, as well as topics on which the Constituency should have a position at IMF and World Bank meetings.
