Harvard scientists created a map of European countries where each red dot represents a place with more than a thousand inhabitants.

The data is very interesting because it shows a very high concentration of population in Germany, parts of the Benelux and a large part of Italy, which is known for its many smaller towns and cities.

The data for Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH) is also interesting, as our country cannot really boast of a high density of red dots.

During the past few years, a large number of its inhabitants left BiH, both because of the political situation and because of poor socio-economic living conditions.

So, according to data from the Union for Sustainable Return and Integration of BiH, more than 484,000 people left BiH in the past nine years.

According to their data, 24,043 people left BiH in 2013, 28,042 the following year, and 29,805 in 2015. In the following years, the trend of emigration from the country continued, and in 2016, 34,544 people left BiH, in 2017, 35,634 people, and in the following year, 20,943 people.

Over the past three years, there has been a particularly pronounced trend of people leaving BiH. According to data from the Union for Sustainable Return and Integration of BiH, 56,987 people emigrated from BiH in 2019, 85,000 next year, and during this year that figure will reach about 170,000 people. These data show that over the past nine years, more than 484,000 people have left BiH, Radio Sarajevo reports.
