The Government of the Republika Srpska adopted the Draft Law on Amendments to the Criminal Code of the RS, which introduces a three-year prison sentence for the public display and promotion of flags and symbols of the RBiH Army, which was also announced by the Party of Democratic Action.
They state that they will take all legal steps and appeal to the Constitutional Court of Bosnia and Herzegovina to stop and cancel the scandalous law in the entity of the RS, which prohibits the flag and symbols of the Army of the Republic of Bosnia and Herzegovina, if it is adopted in the NSRS.
“The display of lilies and the symbols of the honorable Army of the RBiH will never be prohibited because that would represent a violation of the Constitution of BiH, that is, of the constitutional continuity of Bosnia and Herzegovina. The Dodik regime’s attempt to change history with prohibitions and replacements will not pass. The Army of the RBiH was a legal armed force of an internationally recognized state and one of the most honorable armies ever. Its military and political leadership were not convicted of joint criminal enterprise, genocide and crimes against humanity,” they state.
They point out that the convicted parts of the so-called The RS army and the RS police and the political leadership led by Radovan Karadžić, whose policy Dodik’s regime apparently follows.
“That is why they can be put on the same level with the criminal NDH, and not the Army of the RBiH. The Dodik regime has been carrying out systematic apartheid against the Bosniaks in the RS entity for years. The pressures, threats and insults are continuous, and the intention to adopt such a law is only the continuation of such a policy. All pro-state political forces must oppose it decisively and together. In front of Dodik’s policy, which threatens the state with constant attacks on the state and causing inter-ethnic tensions stability, the international partners of Bosnia and Herzegovina should not withdraw either. The withdrawal further encourages the bullies, whose moves can lead to escalation, which should not be in anyone’s interest,” the SDA said.
They called on the Peace Implementation Council (PIC) to provide full support to the OHR, which, in accordance with its powers, would have to repeal the legal act of the RS Government even before the parliamentary procedure.
