Members of the State Investigation and Protection Agency (SIPA) and the Republika Srpska Interior Ministry have launched a major operation called “Ira” across Bosnia and Herzegovina, aimed at dismantling an organized criminal group. The Prosecutor’s Office of BiH announced that there are judicial office holders among those arrested.

The action started early this morning at 28 locations, in Sarajevo, Palam, Bijeljina and Brcko, Zvornik and East Sarajevo, SIPA spokesperson Jelena Miovcic confirmed for BHRT.

Searches are conducted on suspicion of organized crime, illicit trafficking in drugs, weapons and military equipment and money laundering from the Criminal Code of Bosnia and Herzegovina, as well as criminal offenses of accepting bribes in economic activities, revealing official secrets and bodily harm from the Criminal Code of Republika Srpska.

During the investigation, evidence was collected on the connection of the suspects with members of organized criminal groups operating in neighboring countries, according to the Prosecutor’s Office of BiH.

The joint action of the RS Ministry of the Interior and SIPA is being realized with the support of the Brcko District Ministry of the Interior and the CS Ministry of the Interior.

The searches of the residential premises of several natural persons are in progress, and more information about the arrests and seized goods will be known during the day.
